This weeks MMA tutorial will cover again a very neglected topic in the MMA industry called recognizing the Five of Archetype Fighters (Sluggers, Blockers, Chargers, runners, Synergists) you may be facing in the UFC. The definition of an archetype fighter is the traits and patterns they possess in their subconscious mind and nervous system, which will be activated once the fight or flight response has been triggered (the need to survive). Trying to identify an archetype fighter in sparring or fighting can be somewhat tricky at first when you're not looking for it or unaware of what they actually are.
This section of combat is a very complex subject, however if it's study frequently fighters and coaches can benefit greatly from this, and save many hours of wasted sparring energy on ineffective techniques, guessing on what tactics to use in the ring, reduce injuries and maximize perception and combat strategy awareness. Fighters should know what Archetype they themselves are, and practice on perfecting it with as many strategies and tactics as possible. Secondly
they also Need to know what Archetype each of their opponents are as well as training partners. Third, fighters should practice on using their own Archetype, whatever you may be(slugger, charger, blocker, runner, synergist) to dominate each of the other types with different tactics in sparring and drills. Fourth, practice becoming all the other archetypes so you can eventually learn how to become the ultimate Archetype which is a "synergists". Becoming a synergist is the ultimate goal. A synergist is defined as any martial artist, or fire that can use any archetype coupled with any strategy and tactics and techniques to defeat anyone in any situation. In other words a synergist knows how to adapt to any person and scenario in front of them regardless of what archetype they originally may be. A synergistic is very diverse in strategies and tactics and knows how to modify the techniques according to the method they are trying to achieve.
