How Well Do you Monitor Your Sparring Skills?

How well do you monitor your sparring sessions? Do you take notes? If you are serious about learning as much as you can from your sparring sessions, then here are “5 Things to implement the Next Time You Spar.” Yes I want share 5 helpful tips I reccomend to start implementing into your sparring training that I have been using for 25 years, in which has helped me to have success in my training. Although there are more than 5 ideas I use overall, these first 5 I feel are the beginners guide to developing effective sparring skills, reducing bad sparring habits quickly, regardless of your martial style you practice. Below are 5 tips for getting the most out of any type of sparring:

1. Determine what type of sparring you are going to be focusing on for the day. (Technique? Tactical?

2. Have a clear goal of what you’re trying to specifically accomplish for the present type of sparring session and ONLY work on that.

3. Work on All sparring skills separately at first with a SPECIFIC FOUCS for each sparring session

4. Stay reactive based vs action based. Approach all actual sparring with an objective mindset, NOT SUBJECTIVE. Get yourself balanced mentally centered, your perception and vision on cue so you can be in the state of mind possible.

5. Keep a journal with you. Document all of your sparring experiences on a daily basis. (your strengths, weakness, type of sparring, style of opponents, etc)
