UFC's 219 main event bout featuring Holly Holm vs current women's featherweight champ Criss Cyborg displayed five straight rounds of poor strategy decision making yet again from Holm. These repeated tactics made by Holm caused her to get pummeled in every striking exchange for five rounds. Until fighters and their coaches are willing to step outside their safety box to acquire better strategies tactics, and training methods for themselves and athletes, the same results will be repeated.
What was witnessed in Holly Holm's brutal beating at UFC 219 was nothing new to what I have not already spoken about in past blogs and videos tutorials. I have spoken many times (to many to count!) about the subject "combat strategies", which governs all specific s.m.a.r.t (strategic martial arts response tactics) concepts designed to learn and deploy against very specific opponents styles, psychological preferences , tricky skill sets and scenarios. Until this area of combat is sought out by fighters and their coaches, the same poor techniques and execution of artless strategies will keep manifesting.
