Why MMA Fighters Possess Poor Defensive Skills

Fighters have poor perceptual judgments which lead them to over react to any incoming strike such as flinching, extending their arms to grab or block, running or back pedaling out of range, taking punches to give one back and passive covering up techniques which cause fighters to be overwhelmed with a swarm of strikes. There should be as much effort going into effective defensive concepts as much as striking combinations on focus mitts.

UFC and Bellator fighters have zero precision defensive skills that would be considered impressive and effective, saving them from losing a fight prematurely. If fighters need to work on actual blocking and parry numerous of strikes without getting blasted right between the gloves. Or work on being able to stop a ground and pound assault instead of bitching to the referee for allegedly stopping a premature stoppage. Fighters also often close their eyes coupled with leaning away, bending over, turning their backs while swinging their arms in artless manners.

The categories of defense to learn are:

1. Blocks/parries 2.Shielding/covering skills 3. Body Evasion 4. Evasive footwork 5. Interceptions/stop hits 6. Controlling the times distance variable 7. Perceptual focus 8. Reaction Training vs Subjective training 9. Archetype strategies 10.Closet weapon closet target principle
